Welcome to the Ninth District Republican Party of Georgia website!

Georgia's 2011 congressional reapportionment process brings some exciting dynamics to the Ninth Congressional District. The 2010 census revealed that the population growth in Georgia increases our congressional districts from thirteen to fourteen. On September 6, 2011 Governor Nathan Deal signed Georgia's fourteen new congressional maps into law, creating a new Ninth District (GA-9). The new Ninth District will be a vacant seat in the United States House of Representatives. Voters in the Ninth will have the opportunity to elect a congressional representative from a growing field of candidates in 2012.

Already dubbed 'the most Republican district in the nation,' the Ninth District will carry the heart of the nation as the country looks to add another vote in Washington to stand beside Congressman Tom Graves (GA-14) and Congressman Paul Broun (GA-10) and work to stop the Obama administration. Republican congressional candidates in the Ninth will maneuver through a Primary Election on July 31, 2012, and a likely a Primary Runoff Election on August 21, 2012 and onward towards the fall General Election on November 6, 2012. As the newest vote in opposition to the Obama agenda, the district anticipates Democrat opposition backed with financial resources.

The Ninth District's twenty counties are: Banks, Clarke (three northern precincts), Dawson, Elbert, Fannin, Franklin, Forsyth (northern 1/3), Gilmer, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, Pickens (eastern 1/2), Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White. The new ninth is comprised of counties from two congressional districts (GA-9 and GA-10) that were organized from 2005 to 2011. During that time, the Ninth was represented by Congressman Nathan Deal until he resigned to run for Governor, and Congressman Tom Graves. The reapportionment process places Congressman Graves in the new Fourteenth District. Nine counties from the old Ninth (Dawson, Fannin, 1/3 Forsyth, Gilmer, Hall, Lumpkin, eastern 1/2 Pickens, Union, and White) and eleven counties are from the old Tenth (Banks, three northern precincts in Clarke, Elbert, Franklin, Habersham, Hart, Jackson, Madison, Rabun, Towns, Stephens). Six counties from the old Ninth joined the new Fourteenth District (Catoosa, Dade, Gordon, Murray, western 1/2 Pickens, Walker, Whitfield). The southern 2/3 of Forsyth County joined the new Seventh District.

As the second largest congressional district in north Georgia, the Ninth District will bring many of Georgia's Constitutional officers under one roof: Governor Nathan Deal, Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle, Speaker of the House David Ralston, Secretary of State Brian Kemp, Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, and Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols.
